Here's hoping that everyone who wishes to has a great Halloween and All Souls Day.
I am replying here to Tim Garrett's message. My recollection is that Gladys Shrimp was owned by Craig and Emily Smith who later sold their business when they split up. I have heard from Emily but not Craig, but I think they've both done well and been happy. I still have several Gladys Shrimp articles -- 2 belts I cannot get rid of even though I can't get into them these days; 1 hat (the other got lost along the way); a pocketbook that still looks pretty good; and a signed original guitar strap that I treasure. Their stuff was beautifully made and was some of the nicest I had ever seen for that era. I hope you were able to get your repairs done. I'd love to know if the shop is still in Athens.
I will be going to the Rally to Restore Sanity. I'm not completely sure why I feel compelled to go. I may be able to understand this better after I've gone, been buffeted in a crowd, and come out the other side. In the meantime, here's hoping everyone who wishes to I try to get commentary posted and it just sits there like a lox. This system can and will drive me around the bend.
I need to remember to save to drafts. It seems to be the only way to do this without failure. As I tried to post before, I do appreciate the comments and messages I have gotten from people I haven't seen in a bazillion years. It's nice to know we're all still out there doing something other than just getting older. I want to tell Mike Tearson thank you and I will try to find you on Facebook. Patches 15 Below contacted me literally the night before I moved away from NYC to California to invite me to a reunion party at the club. Patches and his family had returned to the US after about 10 years in Spain and were setting things up again. I was very sorry I wasn't able to come to their party, and I've wondered in the 20+ years since (this was in 1988) how the party went, who came to it and performed, and how they all are now. Is Patches still upright and with us or has he joined the Choir Invisible? Hopefully, someone will see this post and let me know. And what happened to Liz Murray, his wife, and their daughter? Do they still have at least 5 dogs? These are important questions, folks. On that happy note, I'll say have a nice weekend. |
